Role Overview:
NCAT is seeking a Classroom Teacher for an ongoing, full-time position. As a classroom teacher, you will be responsible for teaching students in the VET Plumbing program, as well as potentially other subject areas depending on your expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and teach VET programs (including Certificate II in Plumbing).
- Incorporate literacy and numeracy skills into the Plumbing curriculum.
- Use high-impact teaching strategies and adapt teaching practices to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to students and parents regarding their learning achievements.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve student learning outcomes and ensure the delivery of high-quality programs.
- Support and mentor students, providing a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Participate in school-wide activities, including staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and school events.
As a Range 1 Teacher, your focus will be on developing your teaching practice and contributing to the collaborative culture of the school. If you are appointed as a Range 2 Teacher, your responsibilities will include mentoring other teachers, engaging in critical reflection on teaching practices, and contributing to the school’s professional development.
Selection Criteria:
SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the Certificate II in Plumbing, including the ability to teach literacy and numeracy skills and support diverse student needs.
SC2: Experience in planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, with a focus on student learning growth.
SC3: Proven experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching and providing constructive feedback.
SC4: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
SC5: Commitment to professional development, including reflecting on practice and engaging in continuous improvement.
SC6: TAE Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and appropriate qualifications and industry experience to deliver the Certificate II in Plumbing.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- VIT Registration (Provisional or Full) or Permission to Teach if not currently registered.
- TAE Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is required for delivering VET programs.
- Demonstrated industry experience in Plumbing and vocational education is essential.
