Position Descriptor:
We are seeking enthusiastic and culturally responsive teachers to join the Aboriginal Pathways South Australian Aboriginal Secondary Training Academy (AP SAASTA) Specialist Academies and the Tjindu Program.
Together, these programs support Aboriginal students in Years 10, 11, and 12 to achieve academic success, access quality sports training and unique cultural experiences, and confidently transition into work, vocational training, or further study.
Working with sporting and community partners, the programs offer a high-quality, culturally responsive curriculum that builds skills in cultural knowledge, education, health, wellbeing, personal growth, and leadership. Learning is delivered in culturally safe environments where Aboriginal perspectives are embedded across all subjects, ensuring students feel valued, connected, and inspired to lead.
Through the Specialist Academies in Basketball, Soccer, and Netball at St Clair Recreation Centre and the AFL specialist program with the Tjindu Foundation, you will help students strengthen their cultural identity, develop leadership skills, and achieve excellence in line with SACE and Australian Curriculum requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons and culturally grounded learning opportunities aligned with SACE and Australian Curriculum requirements
- Integrate Aboriginal cultural knowledge and perspectives into teaching practice
- Support student achievement, leadership, and personal development
- Work collaboratively with AP SAASTA and Tjindu Program staff, community organisations, and partners
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor and report on student progress and achievement

- Knowledge of and respect for Aboriginal culture, history, and perspectives
