Teacher
Purpose of the Role
The Junior School Teacher is accountable to the Head of Junior School to educate students from Foundation to Year 6 — developing their literacy and numeracy skills and fostering spiritual, social, physical, and emotional growth so that students may reach their full potential.
Subject areas include all areas of the Australian Curriculum. Teachers will use a variety of effective techniques and technologies to engage students with the learning process according to their age, level of ability, and individual needs.
Additional Reporting Relationships
The Junior School Teacher reports to the Deputy Head of Junior School (F–2 or 3–6) regarding classroom, curriculum, behaviour, and student welfare.
A Christian Example

Summary of Work Responsibilities
1. Meeting the Diverse Needs of Students
- Develop, conduct, and teach a classroom programme.
- Analyse student information, assessments, and reports.
- Identify students with learning needs and develop individual education plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate with subject teachers, Pastoral Care Leaders, specialists, and agencies to support students experiencing difficulties.
- Attend staff meetings and other relevant school events.
- Prepare for and participate in parent-teacher interviews.
2. Teaching Responsibilities
- Understand the curriculum and develop approaches that support the Christian ethos of the school.
- Maintain current knowledge of the Australian Curriculum.
- Program units of work and prepare lessons that support curriculum objectives.
- Motivate and stimulate student interest in subjects taught.
- Set and assess student work.
- Prepare written reports on student progress and achievement.
- Maintain appropriate behaviour and discipline procedures aligned with school policy.
3. Contributing to a Safe and Healthy Workplace
- Follow Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) instructions and policies.
- Report accidents and hazards.
- Care for their own safety and that of others, including volunteers, students, and parents.
- Actively participate in rehabilitation and return-to-work programmes.
4. Professional Development
- Attend professional development and training required by the school.
- Actively seek opportunities to increase knowledge, experience, and skills.
5. School Involvement
- Participate in the life of the school, including staff meetings and school events.
Essential Criteria
General Requirements
- Sincere faith in Jesus Christ and active involvement in a local church community.
- Passion for Christian education and integrating a biblical worldview into teaching, curriculum, and relationships.
Qualifications, Education, and Professional Memberships
- Teaching degree.
- Current teacher registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia (TRBSA).
- Completed Responding to Abuse and Neglect training.
- Valid Working With Children Check.
