Position Information

Sydney Secondary College Balmain is a vibrant middle school with 880 students, including  37 Aboriginal students, located on the harbour foreshore with selective, enrichment, comprehensive and special education streams for students in years 7-10. We are proud of our diversity and inclusiveness. Balmain Campus provides opportunities for students to thrive in academic, sporting, cultural and artistic endeavours, though a broad, engaging curriculum and a multitude of extracurricular activities. As part of Sydney Secondary College, our highly skilled and dedicated staff have opportunities to teach across campuses – Leichhardt (7-10) and Blackwattle Bay (11-12) as well as work with colleagues across campuses in collaborative practices and professional learning opportunities. 

Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach Technology Mandatory (Years 7-8) and Food Technology.
  • Capacity to prepare and deliver engaging classroom experiences that will challenge a diverse range of learners, including high potential and gifted students.
  • Ability to create inclusive classroom environments that promote positive wellbeing for students.
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the TAS faculty and across the school.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
