Padstow Heights Public School is located in South - West Sydney and has a student enrolment of 296. The school culture is that of genuine care for one another and connectedness, inclusion and belonging. Students, staff, parents and the wider community work together to promote school excellence.

Our school is supported by a diversity of cultures with 54% of students speaking a language other than English at home.

In 2025, the school has 11 mainstream classes and established 3 support classes. The Classroom teacher - Special Education works along side the Assistant Principal Special Education, other classroom teachers in the Support Unit, and School Learning Support Officers to implement quality teaching and learning programs for the students in the Support Unit. 

Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism (Primary). 
  2. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills used to work collaboratively with staff, students, parents, community and external agencies. 
  3. Demonstrated classroom management skills and ability to implement positive behaviour strategies to support student engagement, participation and wellbeing in a support class setting. 
  4. Demonstrated capacity to plan and deliver individualised learning programs in literacy and numeracy catering to a wide variety of needs in a support class setting.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Special Notes

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.

The commencement date for this position will be day 1 of the 2026 school year.
