Position Information
Cabramatta High School is a comprehensive, coeducational high school located in Southwest Sydney. The school has a total student population of over 1500 students, and includes an Intensive English Centre and Support Unit. 96% of students are from a language background other than English, with fifty-five cultural groups represented in the school. The school has a strong focus on academic excellence, collaborative practice, holistic education, wellbeing programs, innovative professional learning and community partnerships. The school has a collegial staff culture, and the executive team collectively leads whole school projects. The school and its community have a strong culture of high expectations in all learning areas.
The Support Unit has over 50 students with a disability. There are five classes: one IO/AU (moderate intellectual disability and autism), one IO (moderate intellectual disability) and three IM (mild intellectual disability). The school has an integrated curriculum and inclusive approach for all students in the support unit. Core subjects are taught in the support unit and students are integrated into classes with subject specialist teachers with SLSO support and included in whole school programs and activities.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach AUS Autism (Secondary), MIS Mild Intellectual Disability (Secondary) and MOS (Moderate Intellectual Disability (Secondary).
- Ability to deliver high quality, differentiated teaching and learning for a diverse range of students with a disability.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, parents / carers and external stakeholders.
- Ability to plan, consult, communicate and implement individual learning programs and post-school pathway plans, including Individual Education Plans and Individual Transition Plans.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
