Position Information
Sydney Secondary College Balmain is a vibrant middle school with 880 students, including 37 Aboriginal students, located on the harbour foreshore with selective, enrichment, comprehensive and special education streams for students in years 7-10. We are proud of our diversity and inclusiveness. Balmain Campus provides opportunities for students to thrive in academic, sporting, cultural and artistic endeavours, though a broad, engaging curriculum and a multitude of extracurricular activities. As part of Sydney Secondary College, our highly skilled and dedicated staff have opportunities to teach across campuses – Leichhardt (7-10) and Blackwattle Bay (11-12) as well as work with colleagues across campuses in collaborative practices and professional learning opportunities.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach (Secondary) library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
- Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with students, staff and the community positively.
- Demonstrated creative, innovative and flexible approach to managing a library that functions as a learning hub, utilising various technology and reading strategies to engage students and enhance their learning experiences.
- Capacity to implement and oversee the use of online external testing tools, including Best Start, NAPLAN, Checkin, and HSC Minimum Standards testing by managing technology requirements and organisation.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.
