Total remuneration package: Remuneration package valued at up to $146,635.00. Base salary ranges from $85,000.00 to $129,948.00, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available depending on experience.

Position Information

Killara Public School is located in Northern Sydney and has a student enrolment of 306 students. A strong sense of community is celebrated as a key strength of the school and high-quality educational programs are delivered by professional and supportive staff. A culture of inclusion and personalised learning are key priorities for the school to ensure all students reach their potential. 

Our community is culturally diverse with 30% of students born overseas. 46% of our students speak English at home with the remainder speaking other languages such as (but not limited to) Mandarin, Korean, Cantonese, Hindi and Farsi. Our English as an additional language or dialect (EALD) programs support students who have a background other than English. 

The school sees a high level of involvement in extra-curricular activities including sporting and music programs. The school is committed to providing a range of opportunities across the intellectual, creative, physical and social-emotional domains to ensure all students develop their strengths.

The school is committed to preparing students for the future. A focus on innovation, particularly through the creative use of ICT and student driven, real life collaborative project work will continue to be a school priority. Sustainability programs will be a priority for student leadership as well as improving the school environment so that more outdoor learning can occur.

Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach students with learning and support needs primary and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs primary in regular classes.
  2. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.
  3. Willingness to work collaboratively with the school executive, school teams, parents/carers, and classroom teachers to implement, model, monitor and evaluate personalised adjustments for teaching and learning.
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide professional specialist advice and assistance about students with additional learning needs to the school’s learning and support team.  

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
