Position Information
Lake Heights Public School is situated on the northern tip of Lake Illawarra. In 2026, it will have an anticipated enrolment of approximately 150 students. In 2027, Lake Heights Public School will open a new public preschool, as part of the NSW Government’s commitment to deliver 100 new public preschools. Currently, 20% of the student body identifies as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 25% have English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D). Students come from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds. As a school, Lake Heights Public School is committed to the pursuit of excellence through high quality, explicit teaching in an environment where positive relationships and high expectations underpin all aspects of school culture.
The school is situated on Dharawal land and is an active member of the Juborsay Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) and the Warrawong Community of Schools.

Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach K-6, with demonstrated ability to design and deliver high-quality, evidence-based teaching programs that build foundational literacy and numeracy skills through explicit teaching strategies, differentiated to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
- Commitment to whole school wellbeing programs that contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture, with a strong emphasis on implementing effective classroom practice and behaviour management strategies for students with additional needs.
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, building positive relationships with students, staff and the community.
- Demonstrated capacity to coordinate and deliver extra-curricular programs throughout the school, contributing positively to a strong school culture.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
