Teacher - K-6

We are seeking to establish a pool of Teachers - Primary for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

At Dayton Primary School (PS) our vision is to create a sense of belonging that promotes success, engagement and wellbeing for all. In line with this vision, all staff members ensure that student success, engagement and well-being sit at the heart of everything they do; prioritising developing positive relationships to ensure a genuine sense of belonging and trust, and upholding high expectations for both themselves and our students. Staff are passionate about building a ‘school of excellence’ and endeavour to create opportunities for every child to be successful by providing a foundation that opens the doors to a brighter future.

The Role

Members of our team value personal excellence, respect diversity, and promote an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment. They are committed to working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team, and welcome ongoing professional learning to ensure the success of all through a focus on life-long learning. To build a connected community, teachers prioritise connection and communication with families as partners in their student's learning.

Successful teaching and learning at Dayton PS are underpinned by effective evidence-based instruction matched with whole-school alignment of pedagogy, programs, policy and processes. Classrooms at Dayton PS are appealing and welcoming, promoting a positive classroom tone. Clear routines and structures are established, ensuring every student knows what is expected of them. Responsive teaching, through checking for understanding and quality feedback, ensures data-informed decisions are made to progress student learning via authentic and rich learning tasks which allow students to deepen their understanding of mastered skills.

While literacy and numeracy are priority areas, Science, Technology, Physical Education, Arts, Languages and Humanities are interwoven to ensure students receive a holistic, well-balanced education and opportunities to deepen their knowledge and stretch their thinking. The Science of Reading shapes literacy instruction and our focus is on ensuring every student ‘learns to read’ so they leave primary school able to ‘read to learn’. To support learning, daily reviews and retrieval practices built around concepts of the Cognitive Load Theory are utilised. Digital technologies and design thinking are embedded within key learning areas to promote learning, rather than being an ‘add-on’. Differentiation and enrichment ensure every student has access to work at their level and the best opportunities to be successful.

All teachers at Dayton PS are involved in coaching pertaining to the school’s articulated instructional framework and applicants are encouraged to attend Dayton’s upcoming advertised prospective staff information session prior to applying, or to reach out to the school for more information.
