Job Description

THE ROLE

We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about progressive education and keen to make education meaningful for children. The successful candidate will be a team player, who recognises the importance of working towards a common goal. If you understand the basics of good teaching practice, and have a desire to connect learning to the real world, we’d love to meet you!

• Job Title: Teacher - General Primary
• Time Fraction: Full-time
• Contract: Fix-term (Maternity Leave)
• Date: April - December 2026 (Terms 2, 3 and 4)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will: 

• Use the Australian Curriculum to plan learning experiences for children of different ages;
• Create a synthesised learning experience with authentic skill-based connections;
• Use hands-on, interactive learning experiences to engage children;
• Establish relationships with organisations in the local community, finding opportunities for children to learn from experts and action projects to real audiences;
• Use the design process to explore issues and find solutions to problems;
• Equip children with the knowledge and skills they need to design products and services for real audiences;
• Use summative and formative assessment strategies to inform teaching, create a differentiated teaching program and set stretch goals across key learning areas;
• Provide feedback to families in the form of goals and growth;
• Cultivate a safe, calm and productive learning environment; and
• Provide a child safe environment in accordance with the Child Safe Standards.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Current VIT registration
• Current First Aid training
