Position Information
Oran Park Public School, established in 2014, is a large metropolitan school located in a fast growing corridor of South Western Sydney. The school caters for students in Kindergarten to Year 6 with a current enrolment of 1330 students including 55 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 62% of students from a non-English speaking background. Oran Park Public School has 51 mainstream classes and 8 support unit classes that cater for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and Autism.
With a commitment to a love of learning, teachers collaborate to create engaging teaching and learning programs utilising consistent explicit teaching practices across the school which cater for the diverse needs of all students including High Potential Gifted Education and students with additional needs. Our school priorities are an improvement in reading, working mathematically and attendance. Staff model a high expectations culture where our school values; Organised, Proud, Productive and Safe are reinforced through our Positive Behaviour for Learning, Kindness on Purpose and Choice Theory models, underpinning whole school wellbeing.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) or currently undertaking or enrolled in EAL/D qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement high quality engaging and effective differentiated teaching and learning EAL/D programs and resources to maximise the learning outcomes of the diverse cultures including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Ability to track growth, guide teachers in the effective use of the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions and ESL Scales, and work collaboratively with staff on whole-school data collection and reporting practices.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to actively collaborate with students, staff and the wider community to build positive relationships that support outcomes and promote inclusive school culture.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
