Position Information

Moorebank High School is a dynamic partially selective and comprehensive high school situated in southwest Sydney. The school has 1024 students with 1% of students from an Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander background and 78% of students from a language background other than English. In 2021 Moorebank High School established a support unit with three autism support classes. The school is committed to extending its students through excellence in teaching and learning and collaboration with its partner primary schools and other comprehensive and selective high schools. Moorebank High School offers students and teachers opportunities for leadership and quality learning, and has a proud record of academic, sporting and cultural achievements. The school continues to refine a broad and differentiated curriculum, progressive welfare practices, and quality professional learning to ensure excellence in student learning outcomes in the middle and later years of school. The school's priorities for the next two years include: growth and attainment; effective classroom practice and community excellence, supported through innovation in areas such as; whole school student engagement programs, the arts, quality mentoring, enhanced student leadership and student voice opportunities, and an emerging and deepening focus on building student resilience via the school's guiding principle Positive Relationships Positive Outcomes (PRPO).

Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach careers or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in the Careers Adviser qualifications approved by the New South Wales Department of Education
  2. Demonstrated capacity to provide tailored advice on career pathways for young people to support the transition from school to the workforce.
  3. Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills with the capacity to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies
  4. Skills in building and maintaining professional relationships with school teams and external agencies

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application. If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Careers Adviser qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 12 months.
