Champion Bay Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to appoint a passionate and innovative Teacher to join their friendly Arts team in 2026 to teach Visual Arts.

The Location and Community

The City of Greater Geraldton (CGG) is one of 9 regions of WA and has much to offer in terms of sport, culture and tourism. With a population of approximately 40,000, the CGG covers an area of approximately 472,000 square kilometres and includes the towns of Mullewa and Walkaway. Apart from the significant sporting and cultural activities on offer, Geraldton itself is renowned for its quality lifestyle. Geraldton is the centre of the WA rock lobster industry along with the productive agricultural region that extends to the north, south and east of the city. The Role

Champion Bay SHS is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and creative Visual Arts and Media teacher to join our friendly and experienced team.

The successful applicant should have comprehensive knowledge of traditional and contemporary artistic practice and be proficient in a range of media areas that include 2D, 3D and 4D artforms.

  • Teach Visual Arts in alignment with the Western Australian Curriculum, supporting students in developing and applying knowledge, skills, and processes.
  • Design engaging learning experiences that allow students to explore a range of art forms, materials, techniques, and technologies, while encouraging self-expression and innovation.
  • Empower students to critically and creatively engage with artworks, artists, and cultural contexts, fostering appreciation for both contemporary and historical perspectives

The successful applicant must ideally be committed to the continuous improvement of the teaching and learning within The Arts Department. An excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and a capacity to deliver content in an engaging manner to instil our students with a passion for the Visual Arts and Media more specifically is highly sought. We are looking for an applicant who is a committed, professional and self-reflective teacher.

Operating within our highly collaborative department, you will work with a range of staff members to promote a culture of excellence across our Visual Arts and Media Arts courses, which includes cinema and photography. explore imagery, text and sound and create meaning as they participate in, experiment with and interpret diverse cultures and communications practices involved in the business of storytelling and film making.

You should possess strong classroom management skills and be able to build positive relationships with staff, students and parents.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Champion Bay Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
