Job description

Prince of Peace Lutheran College is a K-12 co-educational, independent, Christian school located in the north-western suburbs of Brisbane. The College was established by the Prince of Peace Lutheran Congregation in 1984 to provide quality Christian education to the children of the community.

Prince of Peace Lutheran College offers classes on two sites from Kindergarten to Year 12 with approximately 820 students enrolled. The Junior Campus (K-6) is located at Rogers Parade West, Everton Park. The Middle & Senior Campus, 1 km away at Henderson Road, Everton Hills was opened in July 2009 and is home to Years 7-12.

THE ROLE

The Middle and Senior Student Wellbeing Coordinator plays a dynamic and influential role in supporting the implementation of the College’s vision through pastoral care, student wellbeing initiatives, and collaborative leadership. This role supports the development of a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment through the integration of pastoral care, student wellbeing initiatives, and collaborative leadership.

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Campus (Middle & Senior) and working closely with the Head of Campus and Deputy Head of P–12 Pedagogical Innovation, the Middle and Senior Student Wellbeing Coordinator plays a key role in championing the College’s wellbeing vision. The Middle and Senior Student Wellbeing Coordinator drives wellbeing and academic success for Years 7–9 by fostering positive behaviour and supporting holistic student development.

Key Responsibilities:

This role supports the Deputy Head of Campus in leading the Pastoral Care Team and ensuring that student wellbeing practices and procedures are upheld across the Middle School. As a member of the Pastoral Leadership Team, the Pastoral Leader shares responsibility for both proactive and responsive initiatives that promote the wellbeing and success of every student.

A key aspect of this role is the leadership and guidance of the pastoral care teachers, ensuring consistent and compassionate care for students across Years 7 to 9.

In addition, the Middle and Senior Student Wellbeing Coordinators play a vital role in implementing the College’s vision through their pastoral interactions with students, staff, and the broader wellbeing team. Their responsibilities include administrative duties related to events, camps, parent meetings, and confidential record-keeping. These roles also include a teaching load, with time allocation and remuneration determined in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement.

SELECTION CRITERIAApplicants must be able to demonstrate:

  1. Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration and leadership experience to guide the engagement and wellbeing frameworks of the school.
  2. Experience in student wellbeing and pastoral care, including the ability to monitor and support academic, behavioural, and emotional development.
  3. Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a focus on developing student leadership and fostering a positive school culture.
  4. Effective behaviour management, aligned with restorative practices and consistent with the College policies and guidelines.
  5. Excellent communication and administrative skills, including accurate record-keeping, reporting, and coordination of events and activities.
  6. Commitment to ongoing professional growth, and alignment with the College’s values, ethos, and strategic direction.
