Darling Range SC is located approximately 15 kms east of the Perth city centre in the foothills of Perth. The College is experiencing rapid growth and is seen as a school of choice by the local community and by students from across the state who enrol in our specialist sports programs.

The Role
The Student Support Officer, works within the Student Services Team to provide pastoral care support to students in a range of settings, encouraging student attendance and achievement at school through providing an environment that nurtures emotional, physical, academic and mental health and wellbeing of all students. This is informed by, and dependent upon, strong communicative relationships and positive partnerships with all stakeholders in our school and wider community.
The successful applicant will ideally use an extensive range of support strategies to ensure all students are supported to succeed. They will be responsible for developing responsive and effective support system for students, including assessing areas of risk, developing intervention strategies, preventative programs, assisting educators in the implementation of specialised academic intervention programs and monitoring and communication with students, family and specialist services. It includes working directly with individual students and education staff in the planning, delivery and monitoring of individualised learning curriculums, positive liaison with parents, and effective leadership of education assistant staff.
Applicants will ideally have comprehensive knowledge and skills, and ability to apply this to enhance the experiences of students with special educational needs across all learning areas. Consequently, the Student Support Worker provides strong educational leadership. The role consults regularly with education assistants and all school stakeholders to develop strategies to assist teachers in providing and successfully implementing educational programs for identified students, assisting Education Assistant’s both individually and as a collaborative group, ensuring continuation of the positive culture of the Education Assistant team and building abilities.
