We seek an experienced and dedicated Senior English Secondary Teacher to join our faith-based community.

We are looking for an inspiring educator who can instil a deep appreciation for literature and language in our students, preparing them for both academic success and a life of critical thinking.

About the Role

As a Senior English Secondary Teacher, you will be responsible for:

• Delivering an engaging and rigorous curriculum that aligns with both QCAA and our school's Christian values.
• Mentoring students to develop their analytical and creative writing skills.
• Fostering a classroom environment that encourages intellectual curiosity and a love of reading.
• Collaborating with colleagues to enhance the department's curriculum and teaching strategies.

Commencing on 16 January 2026, this position is full-time.

Skills and experience

The successful candidate will bring a strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and pedagogical practice, proven experience teaching senior-level English, with a strong understanding of the QCAA senior syllabus and assessment.

The successful candidate will also be fully aligned with the Christian values and beliefs of Freshwater Christian College, and seek a role providing opportunities to utilise their talents and skills to make a difference in the lives of our students and the wider College community.

Essential qualifications and requirements

1. Appropriate tertiary qualifications in teaching.
2. Queensland College of Teachers Registration (or the ability to obtain).
3. Experience teaching Year 11 and 12 Senior English.
4. Be fully aligned with the values, virtues, and Christian beliefs of Freshwater Christian College.
5. Able to affirm the College’s Statement of Faith.
6. Able to comply with College policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and training requirements, including those related to work health and safety, risk management, child protection, and confidentiality.
7. Able to work with all members of the College community.
8. A willingness to assist in extracurricular activities after normal working hours.
9. Be legally permitted to work in Australia.
