About the Role
This is a TO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the TO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the TO3 once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of TO2 to TO3 classification range.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with science teachers to prepare and deliver practical lessons—setting up equipment, preparing solutions, and supporting demonstrations
- Safely manage, label and store chemicals and equipment in line with Department of Education safety procedures
- Keep our laboratories, prep rooms, and storage areas clean, secure, and organised across several school buildings
- Monitor stock levels, order consumables and equipment, and support inventory management and basic record keeping.
About You
- You hold, or are working toward, a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (MSL40018), Diploma of Laboratory Operations (MSL50118), or an equivalent tertiary qualification (see: alt-qed.qld.gov.au)
- You work well independently under general guidance but are also confident collaborating and seeking input when needed
- You have a strong practical mindset with a safety-first approach, keen attention to detail, and a commitment to cleanliness and compliance
- Your communication skills are a standout strength—you express yourself clearly, respectfully, and constructively, whether working one-on-one or as part of a team
- You actively build and maintain positive working relationships with teachers, support staff, and students, ensuring tasks run smoothly across a busy department
- You are confident using basic IT systems and understand the use of MSDS, Chemwatch, and workplace health and safety protocols
- Applicants who demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be highly regarded during the recruitment process
