Position: Education Support Employee

Role Description/Criteria

The main responsibilities of the position include:

• Demonstrate practical work and laboratory techniques to students and assist teaching staff when required.
• Devise and prepare practical work and maintain an efficient system for use and allocation of materials and equipment, setting a priority system where necessary.
• Prepare all materials for practical lessons in advance when given appropriate notification in consultation with the science teachers
• Advise and assist science teaching staff in safety matters relating to the science laboratory
• Prepare solutions, stains and media for use in the laboratory.
• Maintain a safe chemical storage/handling/disposal system in accordance with current regulations, including an inventory of chemicals.
• Other duties as outlined in the position description.

The successful applicant can demonstrate the following competencies:

• Experience in laboratory work, preferably in a school environment
• Strong administration and organisational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team of staff.
• Experience within a Catholic or similar educational organisation
• Current Working with Children's
