Strathcona Girls Grammar invites applications from an experienced and collaborative professional to lead the operation of our Science laboratories and support our growing focus on STEM innovation.

This role plays a central part in enabling high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring that practical programs are safe, well-prepared, and engaging for students. As Science and STEM Laboratory Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Science, teaching staff and key stakeholders to support inquiry-based learning and the integration of emerging technologies into the curriculum.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Science, you will:

• Lead the daily operations of the Science laboratories, ensuring they are safe, organised, and responsive to curriculum needs.
• Coordinate laboratory workflows, manage priorities, and supervise laboratory technicians.
• Support teaching staff with preparation and delivery of practical classes, demonstrations, and investigations.
• Assist with integrating STEM technologies such as robotics, data loggers, simulation software, and emerging tools into the curriculum.
• Manage laboratory resources, equipment, and budgets, including stock control and procurement.
• Maintain safe, compliant laboratory environments and oversee safety documentation and procedures.

About you

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating in a laboratory or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety, chemical handling, and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting Science or STEM learning, including educational technologies.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
• A collaborative, solution-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Relevant qualifications in Science, Laboratory Science or a related discipline.
