West Leeming Primary School is seeking an experienced and highly skilled school psychologist to join our supportive and collaborative school community. We are looking for a motivated professional who is passionate about improving student wellbeing, engagement and learning, and who values working closely with staff, families and students to make a positive difference.

As a key member of our student services team, the school psychologist will provide high quality psychological services that support student success. The role includes conducting assessments, providing consultation and intervention, and working alongside teachers and education assistants to develop practical, evidence-based strategies that enhance student learning and wellbeing. The successful applicant will contribute to collaborative case management processes, support the development and review of documented plans, apply analytical skills to identify student needs, potential barriers to learning and wellbeing, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to ensure that students receive timely and effective support.

The Role

The school psychologist will play an important role in building staff capacity, supporting data-informed decision making and strengthening whole-school wellbeing initiatives. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to prepare clear reports and case notes, facilitate meetings, and provide professional learning and guidance to staff.

We are seeking a professional who is highly collaborative, organised and solutions-focused, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Initiative, flexibility and strong interpersonal skills will be essential in responding to the diverse needs of our students and community.

  • hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

    1. Demonstrated ability to implement school psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes.
    2. Demonstrated knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of a variety of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group and system-level intervention.
    3. Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation) skills.
    4. Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills, which demonstrate an ability to function in a self-directed way, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with a range of clients across the lifespan, Department personnel and inter-agency partners across a variety of contexts.
    5. Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.
