Position Information

The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people. 

About the Role

Mount Kuring-gai Public School currently nurtures the learning and wellbeing of 134 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, including 24% from a non-English speaking background and two students from an Aboriginal background.

The school proudly sits on the land of the Guringai and Dharug Peoples who are the traditional custodians of the lands and waterways where we work, learn and play. We aim to honour them and their connection to Country, through our actions at school.

The school has a strong focus on wellbeing with the aim of developing students with the personal resources, skills and abilities to lead full and happy lives.

A School Administrative Officer (SAO) provides administrative, financial and student welfare/wellbeing support and assistance in relation to office and classroom activities, including but not limited to the following school settings: the office, sick bay, library, science laboratory, and food technology/kitchen areas. The work of the SAO at Mount Kuring-gai Public School will focus mainly on the office and sick bay but will occasionally be redirected to other duties, where needed.

Essential Requirements

  • Working with Children Check Clearance
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training.
  • Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a team.
  2. Administration skills including a knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office.
  3. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to meet deadlines.
  5. Ability to work with teachers and students.
  6. Ability to perform tasks in one or more of the following areas: office procedures; accounting procedures; sick bay; hospitality and /or design and technology; science.

Special Notes

It is anticipated that this position will commence in Week 1 of the 2026 school year.

The position is 2 days per week, the successful candidate and the school will negotiate the work schedule to secure a mutually agreeable time sheet.
