Position Information

The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.  

About the Role 

A School Administrative Officer provides administrative, financial and student welfare/wellbeing support and assistance in relation to office and classroom activities, including but not limited to the following school settings: the office, sick bay, library, science laboratory, and food technology/kitchen areas.

 Essential Requirements

  • Working with Children Check Clearance
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training.
  • Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Administration skills including a knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with teachers and students.
  • Ability to perform tasks in one or more of the following areas: office procedures; accounting procedures; sick bay; hospitality and /or design and technology; science.

 Additional Information

Kingswood South Public School is located in the Penrith Area. The school has an enrolment of 330 students. The school consists of 11 mainstream classes , 4 Multi-Categorical classes, 1 Early Intervention class and a public preschool. The Penrith Vision and Hearing Intinerant team and the State Braille Interpreter are also located on the school site.

The school has 52 students who identify as Aboriginal, which is about 15% of our school population. We employ an Aboriginal Support Learning Officer with the funding to support Aboriginal students academic achievement, wellbeing and cultural awareness. The school has 30% of students from a non English speaking background and are supported through our EALD program.

The school has a strong commitment to student achievement in an environment where the students and community support the values taught in our PBL Program. Our behaviour program is centered around the values of being safe, respectful, learner at school. The school promotes inclusive education in everything we do with a strong emphasis on Autism Awareness and how to be successful in a safe and encouraging environment.

The school P&C supports school program through fundraising and coordinates the uniform shop at the school. The school values community involvement and is partnered with many outside support agencies that support the ongoing wellbeing programs at the school.
