Your role

Imagine a psychology career where every day brings purpose, challenge, and the chance to create real change. Here, you’re not just practicing psychology — you're shaping safer communities, supporting rehabilitation, and influencing the justice system from the inside out. Whether you're working directly with individuals, developing innovative treatment programs, or advising courts on complex cases, your impact goes far beyond the office. With unmatched variety, professional growth, and the opportunity to work on the frontlines of meaningful social change, this is psychology at its most powerful — and most rewarding. There's no better place to build a career that truly matters.

Your career path could include:

  • Forensic Psychology– Assess criminal behaviour, support court decisions, and help reduce reoffending.
  • Mental Health Support– Provide care for individuals facing mental health challenges in custodial settings.
  • Program Delivery – Deliver programs targeting violence, substance abuse, and related issues

Your skills can make a difference. Start a career with purpose.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver tailored psychological assessments and interventions to offenders within custody.
  • Provide expert advice to staff and statutory bodies on managing complex mental health and risk profiles, including sexual and violent offenders.
  • Collaborate on behaviour and case management plans that promote rehabilitation and reduce recidivism.
  • Maintain meticulous, compliant documentation using the Offender Integrated Management System (OIMS).
  • Prepare critical reports for parole boards and review tribunals that influence key decisions.

What we’re looking for

  • A passionate, resilient psychologist ready to tackle some of the toughest cases with empathy, ethics, and professionalism.
  • Experience and confidence in correctional psychology, including mental health, cognitive impairments, and complex risk assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary correctional principles and criminogenic risk factors.
  • Accreditation with the Psychology Board of Australia (provisional or full registration).

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology with current provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout NSW.
