About this job

Position Information

Opening Day 1, Term 1 2027, the new high school in Jordan Springs will serve the expanding communities of Jordan Springs and Ropes Crossing, located across both the Penrith and Blacktown Local Government Areas in Western Sydney. Situated on the corner of Armoury Road and Infantry Street, Jordan Springs NSW 2747, the school is designed for a capacity of 1,000 students. The school will experience controlled enrolment growth over time. Initial enrolments will include three support classes for students with diagnosed disabilities and additional learning needs.

The principal, appointed to commence in Term 1, 2026, will lead the school’s establishment phase. This role includes strategic staff recruitment, operational planning, and meaningful community engagement to ensure a strong, inclusive foundation for the school’s successful launch. The school has been master-planned for future growth and will feature innovative learning spaces, a contemporary library, and outdoor areas that promote collaboration, wellbeing, and evidence-based teaching. The school’s educational approach will include a focus on Explicit Teaching and talent development strategies aligned with the Department’s High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Policy.

Situated near Wianamatta Regional Park, the school will proudly reflect the cultural heritage of the Dharug people and work closely with the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) to embed culturally responsive practices and a deep respect for Aboriginal histories and cultures. Serving a multicultural community where local partner primary schools report between 44% and 63% of students from language backgrounds other than English, the school will prioritise equity and excellence, a strong sense of belonging, and authentic community partnerships.

Based on enrolment projections, the position classification for the principal has been set at the P4 level. This classification will remain fixed for the first three years from the school’s opening until the end of 2029. After this period, the principal’s classification will then be assessed through the annual Principal Classification review process.

Special Notes

Classification Structure for Principals:

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. Please view information on the Classification structure for Principals at https://education.nsw.gov.au/about-us/careers-at-education/salary-and-benefits/salary-and-awards/awards-and-determinations/teachers-award-initiatives#Principal2

As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P4 for 2026.
