Position Information
Vincentia Public School (enrolment 250 students, 20 Aboriginal students) is located on the traditional lands of the Wandiwandian people in the Bay and Basin area on the South Coast of NSW. The school's strategic directions clearly articulate the path to student growth and attainment. A high-expectations culture supports continuous improvement, coaching and mentoring supports explicit teaching that leads to improvement of practice, and the implementation of the new curriculum supports student growth and performance in literacy and numeracy.
The school encourages students to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. Many students are keen participants in inter-school sporting competitions and the Premier's Sporting and Reading Challenges. The school offers other opportunities such as Code Club each week, a choir which performs at special events, public speaking competitions and an active Student Representative Council.
Close connections between the school, home and other partners create an environment where every student can thrive. The local Aboriginal community works closely with the school to build understanding and share language and culture with all students. The school collaborates with other schools in Bay and Basin Learning Community, and the proximity to Vincentia High School enables the schools to work together guiding students from Kindergarten to Year 12. There is an active and innovative Parents and Citizens Association, along with additional assistance for the high proportion of Defence families in the form of a Defence Mentor.
