Position Information
Situated on the southern outskirts of Armidale, with a school population of approximately 165 students, Martin's Gully provides a well-rounded education across all key learning areas, for all students
Martin's Gully is a member of the Armidale Community of Public Schools (ACoPS), working together to provide the best possible education for all students through collaborative learning experiences.
Martin's Gully is well resourced and provides students access to the latest technologies. The school supports and encourages student leadership, and promotes the values of care, concern and cooperation amongst the school community.
The school is focused on developing quality assessment practices for (formative), of (summative), and as (student self-assessment) learning. Whole school processes are used for collecting and analysing student data. Academic, emotional and social data is used to inform explicit teaching and learning programs to embed evidence-informed strategies for every student in every classroom.

Selection Criteria
Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria;
- Expertise to lead whole-school, evidence-based explicit teaching practices that deliver enrichment opportunities, differentiate the curriculum, and maximise learning outcomes for all students through high expectations.
- A highly visible, approachable and inspiring leader who builds authentic connections and collaboration with colleagues, parents, community and external agencies to enhance a culture of quality education in Armidale based on the Plan for NSW Public Education.
General Selection Criteria
- High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
- Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
- Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
- Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
- Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2025 and Principal Level P1 for 2026.
