Outside School Hours Care Assistant/Second in Charge
The Role
Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and experienced educator to join our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) team at the Junior School (boys) campus in Essendon.
This unique role combines two responsibilities across the day:
- Morning shift (7:15am – 8:45am): OSHC Care Assistant
- Afternoon shift (2:30pm – 6:00pm): Second-In-Charge (2IC)
Working Monday to Friday during school terms (0.72 FTE), with paid school holidays, you’ll support and help lead a vibrant and engaging OSHC program for students from Prep to Year 6.
This is a part-time (0.72) ongoing position that commences from January 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support students in a safe, inclusive environment
- Assist with and lead engaging indoor and outdoor activities
- Support food preparation and maintain hygiene standards
- Monitor student wellbeing and report concerns
- Step into the Coordinator role when required, including rostering, liaising with families and staff, and general administration
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma or higher qualification in a relevant field
- Current First Aid certification (including asthma and anaphylaxis)
- Experience working in OSHC or similar educational settings
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience supporting children with individual needs is highly valued
