KS1 Teacher - Maternity Cover

Position Overview:

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 Teacher to join our vibrant primary school on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to a KS1 class, ensuring that all pupils are supported, challenged, and inspired to achieve their full potential.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching & Learning:

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum.
• Use a range of teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with SEND and EAL.
• Promote a love of learning through creative and interactive teaching methods.
• Implement effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.

Assessment & Progress:

• Monitor and assess pupil progress using formative and summative assessment techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil attainment and use data to inform planning.
• Prepare pupils for KS1 assessments, ensuring they are confident and well-supported.

Classroom Environment:

• Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Organise and maintain classroom resources and displays that support learning.
• Foster positive relationships with pupils, encouraging independence and resilience.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with teaching assistants, SEN staff, and other colleagues to support pupil development.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and well-being.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events.

Safeguarding & Welfare:

• Uphold the school's safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Promote the welfare of all pupils and report concerns promptly and appropriately.

Person Specification:

Essential:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognised in the UK.
• Proven experience teaching in a KS1 setting.
• Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and assessment frameworks.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferable:

• Experience with phonics scheme Read Write Inc
• Familiarity with KS1 SATs preparation and data tracking.
• Experience supporting children with SEND or emotional regulation needs.
• Confidence using digital learning tools and interactive technology.
