Job description:

Help shape the future of literacy and numeracy in schools! In this impactful role, you’ll support the rollout of the minimum schooling guarantee for reading, while boosting numeracy practices where possible. Partner with school leaders and teaching teams to drive consistent, evidence-based strategies that lift student outcomes. Supporting the multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), focusing on high-quality Tier 1 instruction and effective Tier 2 and 3 interventions.

The Team

Taroona Primary School, a school of approximately 290 children located in natural bushland overlooking the beautiful Derwent River estuary. Learning together with children from Kindergarten to Grade 6, in single year and composite classes. We live our values of Growth, Courage, Respect, Responsibility, and Connection every day.

About the Role

The primary focus of this role is to support the implementation and embedding of the minimum schooling guarantee for reading and, where there is capacity, to include attention on strengthening numeracy practices. The role will do this through enabling school leadership staff and teaching teams to implement evidence-based, consistent and aligned strategies for the teaching of literacy and numeracy, to improve the learning outcomes for all students within the classroom. The role will support the implementation of the essential elements of the multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework. This will include a focus on quality Tier 1 instruction, and processes and practices for Tiers 2 and 3.

We are looking for

Essential

  • A registered teacher with full registration within the meaning of the Teachers Registration Act 2000.
  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment

Desirable

  • Four years or more training as defined in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award 2005.
