The Role

Applecross SHS is seeking a creative and dynamic educator to join our leadership team as Co-Head of Learning Area (Technologies).

Working in collaboration with the Principal and Executive team, the successful applicant will ideally provide strong educational leadership that aligns with the school’s vision for excellence. They will ideally foster innovation, inclusivity and collaboration among staff, students and community partners, creating a vibrant learning environment where every student can thrive.

The ideal applicant will ideally be student-focused, reflective and highly motivated, with a displayed commitment to improving outcomes through strategic planning, ongoing monitoring and data informed decision making. Applicants should have a thorough understanding of the revised Western Australian Technologies curriculum and be able to teach across Years 7 to 12. Expertise in multiple Technologies pathways including Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), General and Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs is highly regarded.

In this role, the successful applicant should lead curriculum design and innovation within the Technologies learning area. They ideally will embed contemporary, evidence-based teaching practices that integrate new technologies to enhance engagement and achievement. The position includes delivering upper school Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and a lower school engineering-focused curriculum, ensuring clear progression into senior pathways. The Co-Head of Learning Area should also ideally lead and promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives, fostering interdisciplinary learning that connects classroom experiences with real world applications and future careers. In addition, they should build partnerships that extend learning opportunities beyond the classroom and strengthen connections with industry and the wider community.

Holding a Certificate IV in TAE Assessor Skill Set or VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set will be highly regarded.
