The Role
We are seeking an inspiring and strategic Head of Learning Area (HOLA) – Health and Physical Education to lead our well-established and experienced team of educators. The ideal candidate would bring a strong commitment to innovation, introducing initiatives that enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role contributes to the development and implementation of whole-school initiatives and the Business Plan. A core aspect of the position involves the effective use of data to inform teaching practices and drive continuous school improvement. Responsibilities also include launching an approved department specialist sports program.
In collaboration with the Principal and the administrative team, the HOLA provides educational leadership within the school and the broader community. As a curriculum leader, the successful applicant would offer professional guidance to Health and Physical Education staff, ensuring alignment with current curriculum standards and best practices. This role plays a pivotal part in facilitating high-quality teaching and learning, applying effective performance management strategies, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
The desired applicant should have outstanding interpersonal and public relations skills. These skills are important to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents, and the wider community. Experience with Department of Education Specialist Sporting Programs is desirable as the school is keen to branch into this space.
