A Head of Department - Student Services will, in partnership with their Year level Deputy Principal, Associate Principals and Year Level Coordinators, focus on both the academic and personal wellbeing of their year level and the successful applicant will possess strong relational and collaborative capabilities to ensure effective leadership across this diverse department.

About the Role:
The Head of Department - Student Services role requires a dedicated, energetic, passionate and enthusiastic leader of their cohort who will proactively know their students and lead and support teachers to provide programs that fully engage students with their learning. The HOD will lead the team that will track and monitor students to maximise educational outcomes and quality learning and teaching for all students. They will support and enforce the Student Code of Conduct for students including behaviour, uniform, attendance and suspensions, and work collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders to create proactive behaviour plans and implement individual case management.
The Head of Department - Student Services will lead goal setting for students, develop their self-efficacy as learners through a focus on learning and teaching with their cohort, and will demonstrate a sustainable culture of care and wellbeing for all students, their teachers and stakeholders.
The successful applicant will promote a sense of culture and belonging for their Year level, nurturing connections between peers, and will build constructive relationships with teachers and the wider school community.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Lead and implement targeted strategies to improve student learning outcomes, attendance, and wellbeing, particularly for students from disadvantaged and newly arrived backgrounds.
- Monitor student achievement and behaviour, develop intervention plans where required, and support staff with tools and strategies to enhance student engagement and success.
- Coordinate induction and support programs for new arrivals, addressing their academic, social, and emotional needs while liaising with external agencies and support services.
- Collaborate with parents, school staff, higher education institutions, community organisations, local businesses, and government stakeholders to strengthen student outcomes and community engagement.
- Manage departmental resources, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies, and promote socially just practices that support equitable educational opportunities for all students.
