Blue Gum Community School is a unique small school in Inner North Canberra, that opened in 1998. Blue Gum now offers a variety of programs from birth to 16 years - playgroups (birth to 2); preschool (3-5); primary (5-12); secondary (12-16).

Our preschool classes for 3-5 year olds are located at our Hackett Campus & our Dickson Campus. ‘Word of mouth’ recommendations from families ensure that our high quality education programs attract a long waiting list. Each preschool class of approx. 20 students has a teaching team of 3-4 educators.

So, we are excited to offer this opportunity for outstanding early childhood educators to join our wonderful team in 2026 - either full-time or part-time. Casual work is also available in 2025. (So apply early!)

Blue Gum pays above-Award wages. Your salary will depend on your role (e.g. Class Director or Teaching Assistant); as well as your qualifications & experience. So a beginning Assistant may earn $70,000pa + superannuation, and an experienced Class Director $130,000pa + superannuation.
