The Opportunity

Reporting to the Deputy Head (Teaching & Learning K–12), the Director of Teaching is a key educational leader responsible for advancing teaching excellence across the School.

Working collaboratively with Heads of Department, Directors of Learning, Learning Coaches and senior leaders, you will lead the development and implementation of evidence-informed teaching practices, instructional coaching frameworks, professional growth pathways and innovative approaches that strengthen teacher capability and improve student outcomes.

This role sits at the centre of teaching and learning excellence, bringing together professional learning, accreditation, appraisal, pedagogical research, educational innovation and instructional leadership.

Key Responsibilities

As Director of Teaching, you will:

• Lead and embed excellence in teaching through the School's Teaching and Learning Model and evidence-informed pedagogical practices.
• Drive continuous improvement through lesson observations, Learning Walks, Deep Dives and analysis of teaching and learning data.
• Design and deliver high-impact professional learning, coaching and mentoring programs for teachers and leaders.
• Support teacher accreditation, appraisal and professional growth pathways, fostering progression from proficient to highly accomplished practice.
• Champion educational innovation, including the effective integration of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies.
• Contribute to educational research, publications and conferences to ensure the School remains at the forefront of best practice.
• Partner with academic leaders across K–12 to strengthen instructional practice, teacher capability and student outcomes.
• Lead strategic teaching and learning initiatives, including professional learning systems, Schoolbox implementation and key School-wide improvement projects.

You are an exceptional educator with the credibility, expertise and relational capacity to inspire growth in others. You are equally comfortable leading strategic improvement initiatives, facilitating professional learning, coaching colleagues and engaging with contemporary educational research.

• Outstanding educational leadership and instructional coaching capability.
• Demonstrated success in leading teaching and learning improvement initiatives.
• Deep understanding of effective pedagogy, curriculum, assessment and teacher development.
• Strong analytical capability and confidence using educational data to inform decision-making.
• Exceptional communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to influence and lead through collaboration, credibility and professional expertise.
• Commitment to evidence-informed practice and continuous improvement.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Understanding of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, and their impact on education.
• A passion for developing great teachers who create exceptional learning experiences for students.
• Hold a current, valid, paid NSW Working with Children Clearance
• Committed to supporting and modelling the School's Christian ethos, values and mission
• Understand of child-safe practices and professional responsibilities.

Experience in accreditation, appraisal, coaching, professional learning leadership, educational research or independent school settings will be highly regarded.
