Hughenden State School was established in 1880 and is a P-12 campus in the Longreach District. It is situated 380 km west of Townsville and 320 km north of Longreach, where the district office is sited. Hughenden is the main centre of the Flinders Shire which covers an area of 41 632 sq. km. Sheep, cattle and grazing are the main industries in the shire, with Queensland Rail, Shire Council and local businesses the major employers.

About the Role

• This role may include up to a 0.5 teaching load dependent of staffing allocations.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Educational Leadership: Support the Principal in developing and implementing a shared educational vision focused on high-quality learning outcomes for every student, while deputising for the Principal when required.
• Ethical and Inclusive Leadership: Demonstrate values-based, ethical leadership and embed socially just, inclusive practices across all aspects of school life.
• High Expectations and Professional Growth: Set high standards for student and staff performance while actively engaging in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
• Strategic Partnerships and Future Focus: Build strong partnerships with parents, government agencies, community organisations, industry and business, while maintaining a strategic and future-oriented approach to school improvement.
• Governance and Resource Management: Apply relevant legislation and education policies, and effectively manage people, resources and priorities to achieve school goals and improve outcomes.
