Position Information

Gregory Hills Public School is a comprehensive K–6 primary school situated in Gregory Hills, NSW, within the Macarthur Network in south-west Sydney. Established in 2023, our school continues to grow rapidly as we build a strong reputation for excellence, inclusion and community-centred learning.

Our school motto — Connection, Collaboration and Courage — underpins our culture and guides the behaviours, relationships and high expectations we uphold for every student, staff member and family.

Gregory Hills Public School currently enrols approximately 660 students with projected growth to more than 1,000 students in the coming years. There are 20 Aboriginal children currently enrolled. The school has expanded to include three support unit classes in 2025, ensuring we continue to meet the diverse learning, wellbeing and inclusion needs of our community.

We are an active partner of the 4C Transformative Learning organisation and the Networks of Inquiry and Indigenous Education (NOII) NSW. Through these partnerships, our students, teachers and leaders engage in evidence-informed, future-focused practices that develop the capabilities needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

General Selection Criteria

  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

  1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary, demonstrates exemplary leadership and a deep understanding of the strategic improvement process by effectively managing school priorities and actively cultivating a positive, collaborative, and future-focused school culture.
  2. Demonstrated expertise in leading and managing whole-school wellbeing initiatives, proactively engaging with staff, parents, and the community to navigate complex wellbeing scenarios and support positive student outcomes in a rapidly growing school.
  3. Proven collaborative leadership in driving evidence-based whole school professional learning that enhances and strengthens teachers’ capabilities to deliver explicit, high-quality, and differentiated teaching and learning.
  4. Evidence of emotionally intelligent, visible leadership with a demonstrated ability to manage the complexities of a senior executive role, whilst supporting the principal and building the capacity of executive and teaching staff.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
