About the School: 

Chapel Hill State School has been operating since 1987 and has a long and proud tradition of providing excellent quality public education. Since opening, the school has grown to over 800 students. While the school is a larger school, it has a strong sense of community not unlike a small country-town while also offering individual attention and diverse opportunities for its students.

The successful applicant will have excellent skills as an instructional leader with strong school-based project management in order to deliver positive outcomes while also maintaining a supportive and positive work culture. With three deputies on site, each deputy needs to provide strong collegial support and be an active participant for projects being delivered by other leaders in the team.

While this role is primarily strategic, the successful deputy will need to engage in operational tasks in order to maintain the smooth running of the day-to-day operations.

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Deputise for the Principal when required.
  • Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
  • Manage resources to achieve goals.
