  • Principal location – Parramatta and Sydney CBD - Flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
  • Employment type – Temporary (12 months) – Full time
  • Salary – Clerk Grade 3/4, Base Salary ($84,659 – $92,701), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

The Commissioner Support Officer supports the effective operation of the Industrial Relations Commission by providing high-level administrative support to Commissioners. This is a great opportunity to work in a dynamic, client focused environment, gain exposure to industrial relations matters, and contribute to fair and effective decision-making within a statutory tribunal.

What you’ll do

As part of the Commissioner Support team, you will provide critical administrative support to Commissioners, ensuring the smooth running of the Commission. You will manage correspondence, prepare decisions, organise travel and accommodation for regional hearings, and assist in maintaining accurate records and data systems, all while providing a professional point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

You will also:

  • Undertake research and analysis of industrial matters to support Commissioners in decision-making
  • Respond to enquiries from legal representatives, employer groups, unions, and the public
  • Coordinate and respond to enquiries and procedural correspondence
  • Provide training and guidance to team members and support colleagues with complex enquiries
  • Apply and interpret departmental policies and procedures, including EEO, WH&S, Code of Conduct, and cultural awareness initiatives
  • Liaise with parties to awards and enterprise agreements, gathering and organising information to identify key issues
  • Support the continuous improvement of administrative processes within the Commission
  • Provide proofreading and editing support to Commissioners

What we’re looking for

  • Completed or undertaking legal qualifications highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience providing high-level administrative and clerical support in a complex, confidential, or legal/court environment
  • Strong client service and communication skills, with the ability to respond professionally to enquiries from diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to research, analyse and interpret information, apply policies and procedures, and manage competing priorities with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative and sound judgement in day-to-day decision-making, with the ability to seek guidance on complex or unfamiliar matters

Appointments are subject to reference checks. Some roles may also require the following checks/ clearances:

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
