Casual Cook – MACS Early Learning Centre

Identified Position

The WBACC operates an Early Learning Centre and is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the casual position of Cook.

The Gudjahgahmiamia MACS Early Learning Centre prides itself on Wreck Bay Community cultural values and is committed to the Community it provides care for.

This is an identified position, which means the successful applicant would be able to demonstrate:

• an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people; and
• an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

The successful applicant will be employed under the Children’s Services Award 2010.

The position is a causal.

The cook’s hours are 8.30am to 1.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

• Good communication skills and ability to relate well with staff, parents and children.
• Following the menu and monitoring food supplies.
• Prepare age-appropriate meals for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
• Preparing meals for children with special dietary requirements.

Essential:

• Be aged 18 years or older
• Have experience in commercial food preparation
• ACT Working with vulnerable people card, or the ability to successfully apply for one
• A first aid certificate or the ability to successfully gain one
