Position Information

St George School delivers education to 61 students with severe physical and multiple disabilities in a safe and supportive environment.

School staff work collaboratively with families and external providers to deliver quality learning experiences that enable students to work towards personalised learning priorities and achieve curriculum outcomes.

Our school continues to investigate and trial better ways of delivering educational services for 'best practice' in special education.

Our school vision captures the shared goals, expectations and collective responsibility for the students at the school: ‘To empower students to become lifelong learners who are confident, emotionally and socially secure and able to communicate and participate effectively in the community.'

Selection Criteria

1.In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with severe intellectual disability, autism with challenging behaviours, physical disabilities, and other complex health needs with demonstrated capacity and experience in exemplary classroom practice.

2. Demonstrated proven track record of developing and leading differentiated, high-quality teaching and learning programs that align with the new K–10 curriculum and are specifically tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.

3. Demonstrate your ability to embed a culture of ongoing whole school improvement which is reflected in improved student engagement, increased staff collaboration, and positive shifts in learning outcomes being achieved through a strong emphasis on evidence, clear goals, and a shared vision of success for every student.

4. Proven ability to be a consistent, empathetic, and solution-focused leadership who cultivates a culture of collaboration, high expectations, and mutual respect. This has resulted in strengthened community engagement, improved staff morale, and better support for all learners.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
