Position Information

Panania Public School is located on a large site east of the Georges River and south of the Bankstown CBD. The school promotes a culture of equity and excellence catering for approximately 375 students and an increasing EALD population (35%). Students are encoraged to be responsible, active and informed citizens enabling them to adapt and thrive in a dynamic society.

Dedicated staff work collaboratively in reflective frameworks to deliver quality teaching and learning programs that are informed by data and underpinned by evidence-based research. There is a commitment to improving student performance in literacy and numeracy and emphasis on student wellbeing. Programs aim to develop motivated, resilient and respectful learners that are engaged and challenged. As a result, students exhibit a strong sense of self within an inclusive and safe learning environment. 

The Assistant Principal Learning and Support is based at Panania Public School, however, provides timely and strategic support to schools across local networks K-12. The model enhances school culture, fosters positive partnerships and builds teacher capacity via professional learning opportunties. The Assistant Principal Learning and Support shares expertise and strengths practices that ensure that every student is progressing in their learning and is known, valued and cared for. 

Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, 

  1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with additional learning and support needs (primary and/or secondary).
  2. Proven ability to promote and support the development of effective and collaborative learning support teams within schools.
  3. Capacity to provide professional learning, consultative advice and specialist assistance to schools with students with additional learning and support needs in mainstream classes, support classes and schools for specific purposes. 

General Selection Criteria

  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
