Position Information

Boorowa Central School is a farming village located in the Southwest Slopes of New South Wales, and its main industry is agriculture. The town is located 3 hours southwest of Sydney, just over an hour northeast of Canberra and within 30 min of Young and Yass. Boorowa Central School is vibrant and inclusive with around 220 students. Approximately 9% of the students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and the school acknowledges and celebrates the Ngunnawal and Wiradjuri cultures, and the traditional owners of the land. Students at Boorowa Central School have access to state-of-the-art technology in every learning space with excellent facilities, including a Commercial Kitchen, a Trade Training Centre, and a brand new 'Innovation Centre', providing opportunities for students in K-12 to experience 'hands-on' learning. The school has a multi-purpose hall, two large ovals, and external basketball and netball courts. The school is staffed by a blend of expert, experienced and enthusiastic teachers who deliver high quality teaching and learning activities in all classrooms. Teaching staff are well supported by excellent SLSOs and SASS. The school has a focus on instructional leadership to target student growth in Literacy and Numeracy from K-12. Boorowa Central School is committed to its strong partnership with the local community. Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.

  1. Ability to work within a K-12 central school setting, as part of a dynamic leadership team, with experience strategically planning, leading and monitoring initiatives, and applying evaluative practices to support the Boorowa Central School Strategic Improvement Plan.
  2. Ability to lead and demonstrate explicit instruction in numeracy and literacy, including analysing data to improve student outcomes.
  3. Capacity to develop and promote strong school, educational and community partnerships at a time of significant educational change.
  4. Capacity to manage the demands of the dual role of classroom teaching and managing faculty administration.

General Selection Criteria

  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
